Senshido is a combination of a survival based reality oriented self-defense methodology and personal development through psychological control of the ego. The two work hand in hand. Our personal defense training covers the complete range of personal security. This includes active scanning and awareness, threat recognition, setting personal perimeters and using barriers, as well as verbal de-escalation and conflict management strategies. When it comes to hands-on combat, we focus on high-probability/combat proven defensive techniques that enhance natural instincts and abilities.
Senshido was founded in 1994 by Richard Dimitri, who went on to become, and is still considered, one of the top and most sought out personal protection and defense tactics experts in the world.
Heading up the Portland Senshido and CQC Community is Jesse Lawn. Jesse has been a Senshido Instructor since 2008. He is a lifelong martial artist with over 30 years of training and a decorated former deputy sheriff and medic. Aside from his martial career, he currently works as a regional training manager for an international security agency.
